Development of the industry’s first double-gate transistor model has been announced by IC maker Freescale Semiconductor Inc., Austin TX, and the University of Florida, Gainesville FL.
It has been used to model a device that Freescale calls FinFET, a transistor engineered to pack more computing power into less space and reduce power consumption, while using existing semiconductor manufacturing processes, the company says.
