Chinese Counterfeit GPS Maps

“Generally a GPS device costs about 10,000 yuan ($1,200 USD) but a fake one equipped with a counterfeit electric map can be available for several thousand yuan or even less,” she said. “Both its function and accuracy are doubtful.”

Dude. This is simply a stupid GPS news. A really classic case of stupidity and how saving a few pennies will only make you pound foolish. Don’t let the China GPS pirates make your petrol tank go empty.

The newest crime in China…. counterfeiting GPS maps. Apparently large numbers of people are getting lost because of the poorly produced GPS maps people are installing in their cars. Price is the predominant reason the counterfeit maps are becoming more popular with official maps costing about $125 each. Counterfeit maps can be had for as little as two dollars.
