Microsoft Pauses TV Shows  

Microsoft’s long running request for an interactive TV patent has been granted, reports The Register. The patent, which Microsoft originally applied for in 1993, enables the company to develop and market technology that allows television viewers to pause programmes to follow on-screen hyperlinks and participate in games, chat rooms and other interactive services.

Rinspeed and Bayer MaterialScience have been working on zaZen, a revolutionary new concept car. A large third brake light shines out of what looks like a floating, transparent teardrop roof. Electronic Nose  

An electronic nose is so sensitive that it can distinguish between cigarette smoke and smoke from an office or factory fire. Developed by a European research consortium the device will help to end the vast number of false alarms recorded by fire brigades each year. The researchers developed a demonstrator of the new device and now hope to complete a viable commercial product by October 2006.
