Conductive Fabric Gaskets

Laird Technologies has introduced Poron Conductive Fabric gaskets for LCD cushioning and EMI protection in handheld monitoring devices.

The gaskets are RoHS compliant EMI shields comprised of Rogers Poron, Laird’s fabric and conductive adhesive. This combination provides LCD cushioning and EMI security.

“By providing both cushioning and EMI protection, Poron Conductive Fabric gaskets reduce the number of needed parts,” said Laird’s Joe Chen. “They also eliminate the need for a high-cost stamping tool.”

The PCF design reduces the weight of handheld products because it replaces the conventional metal stamping frame. PCF gaskets can be die-cut specifically to fit underneath the LCD screen in handheld devices. Standard roll sizes are 500mm wide by fifty meters in length. PCF gaskets can be purchased at an average cost of ten cents for a 3cm x 3cm die-cut part.
